The successful candidate will be highly-resilient, tenacious and will possess excellent communication skills, with a keen eye for detail. This particular role is best suited to an individual with experience in similar roles, and experience in consultative solutions sales will be advantageous.

Job Description

As a Technical Sales Consultant at Cobalt Systems, you will be responsible for achieving your sales target in capital equipment sales (barcode labelling automation), along with associated services, software and consumables. You will be responsible for the acquisition of new business, as well as developing business in our existing accounts.

Our client base includes companies of all sizes, from local bakeries to publicly-listed companies. The verticals we operate in include; Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Medical Device Manufacture, FMCG, Logistics, 3PL’s, and e-commerce.

You will be proactive in your approach and take the initiative to develop your technical ability to exploit new commercial opportunities, including in areas that may be new to you such as factory automation, software, and emerging technologies.

Strong discipline is required in the delivery of technical sales solutions, from specification and proposals, through to managing a busy pipeline of projects of various scale and complexity.

As well as strong technical competency, you will have the excellent entrepreneurial, leadership and interpersonal skills required for successful career development of both yourself and those around you. These skills must include:

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key tasks and responsibilities


  • Develop and implement a plan for growth in barcode labelling automation sales, through existing end user clients and acquisition of new business
  • Collaborate closely with our technical team, marketing and the wider sales team, reporting to the Sales Director
  • Prepare detailed quotations and specifications, working with manufacturing plants to ensure customer requirements are met and accurate information is available for system design/drawings, projects and/or order processing
  • Liaise between customer, project engineers, manufacturing, and design to ensure clear and open communication is always maintained
  • Provide thorough project handovers, for project delivery and aftersales service.
  • Manage multiple client demands and clearly communicate information B2B, actioning all enquiries promptly
  • Maintain customer data and record all visit information and customer activities within our mobile CRM system to ensure accurate and relevant information is available
  • Work with clients to ensure payment terms are effectively negotiated up-front and managed through.



  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good GCSEs with A/B grades (6+) in Mathematics, Science and English
  • Evidence of further education
  • Must be able to travel in and around UK
  • Valid Passport for occasional overseas travel
  • Must be prepared to travel and stay overnight
  • Valid UK driving license
  • Proven track record of sales excellence
